Obituary for Marilyn Virgine Elsner

Marilyn Virgine Elsner, 93, passed away on April 30, 2019 at the Pine View Care Center in Black River Falls. She was born on September 7, 1925 to Victor and Hannah Pernot in Brooklyn, Wisconsin.

Marilyn grew up in the town of Brooklyn where she graduated from High School. Marilyn married Emmett William Elsner on December 27, 1944 at Brooklyn Methodist Church. They lived in Dane County where she lovingly raised their three boys. In 1981 they moved to Black River Falls following Emmett’s retirement.

In addition to spending time with her family, Marilyn enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Proud of her Norwegian heritage, she was known for making Lefse every Thanksgiving and homemade Lutefisk. Despite her fear of big dogs, Marilyn loved dog sitting her “special little man”, Zeus, the Doberman. She was very well liked and made many wonderful friends during her three years at Pine View.

Marilyn is survived by her two brothers: Don and Rich Pernot; sister: Pauline Wittenwyler; daughters-in-law: Mary Ace, Lori Elmore and Stephanie Olson; grandchildren: Michael Elsner, Jeffrey Elsner, Jennifer Elsner, Michelle McGinely, Casey Zillmer, Tia Schultz and Amber Hoge; and 18 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband of 55 years, Marilyn was preceded in death by her sons; Charles Robert Elsner, Roger Dale Elsner, and Rex Arthur Elsner; and sisters: Joyce Pernot and Vivian Lerch.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2019 date in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Brooklyn, Wisconsin.

The Buswell Funeral Home of Black River Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.
